Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Mexico invites applications in Pure Mathematics at the level of Assistant Professor. This is a probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong research program, and demonstrate teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Skills / Requirements


Minimum Qualifications
A PhD in mathematics or a closely related field


Preferred Qualifications
Post-doctoral experience, demonstrated or potential publication record in recognized premier journals, commitment to establishing a strong research program with an emerging national/international reputation, commitment to excellence in pure math education at the undergraduate through graduate level and desire to participate in an environment comprising significant cultural diversity, and potential service to the Mathematics Program and Department. Preference will also be given to candidates interested in working in the area Algebra/Number theory, Analysis/Operator algebras, and Geometry/Topology.
