Blog Post: Career fair 101
posted Monday, June 30, 2008 1:00 AM
With the Gobs of Jobs career fair right around the corner, I promised I'd give you plenty of tips and quidelines to make the event more successful for you.
1. Wear Professional Dress. Ladies and gentlemen, in the name of all things righteous and good...wear some conservative, business-appropriate clothes. That means no jeans, athletic wear, shorts, excessive jewelry, sneakers, or skimpy stuff! It's ok if you don't have a fancy outfit or expensive suit. Just make sure your threads are clean, pressed, well-fitting, and professional. First impressions are important. 2. Update your resume and bring lots of copies. Make sure that your resume reflects your proudest achievements. You've worked hard during your career, and your resume is the place to showcase what makes you a superstar. We'll have free resume review and copy machines on site to help you with this. 3. Keep it professional. When you meet that recruiter, concentrate on learning about the opportunities within the company. Don't discuss salary or vacation right off the bat. You mission should be to learn, stimulate interest, and set up an interview.
