I went to Wikipedia to get some definitions of these terms to better explain all this.

Web 2.0 is a trend in World Wide Web technology, and web design, a second generation of web-based communities and hosted services such as social-networking sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies, which aim to facilitate creativity, collaboration, and sharing among users. In simpler terms this is the interactive internet where the user is adding content.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it "ranks", the more searchers will visit that site.

Blog is an online journal derived from the words "web" and "log". Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries.

Now that we have all these definitions out of the way why and how does this affect you? Try to Google your name or business and see where you come back in the rankings. When you begin to blog you will increase your page ranking and bring back more rankings on the first page or results returned.
