Profile: Ever-Ready Oil Company

In 1929, Ever-Ready Oil Company was started by Nugget Grossetete Sr., his brother Alec and their parents. The company was started in a small garage with 2 gas pumps at Harvard & Central.

During the 1930's, Nugget drove daily to Artesia to pick up gasoline for the station. On those days that gasoline was left over from the station, Nugget would go door to door selling the surplus to business customers.

Thus the start of the wholesale gasoline business. Nugget bought out his brother Alec in the 1940's and located the bulk plant at 101 Anderson SE, where it is today.

Nugget's wife Marie ran the office out of their home, while rasing three children. In October of 1957 the business incorporated.

For 35 years Ever-Ready was branded a Conoco fuel, oil and lubricant jobber. In the 1970's, Ever-Ready became a Texaco jobber and in 1983 a mult-jobber with Chevron and Texaco. In 1984 Ever-Ready dropped the Texaco brand which brings us to the present, where we are a Chevron jobber.

ERO is one of the largest wholesale and retail distributors of petroleum products and owns the RediMart Convenient Stores in the New Mexico Region, which consist of Chevron and Conoco Brands.
