PATIENT SRVCS COORD I -PMG/MEDICAL RECORDS
Requisition Number: 27930 Location: NM - Espanola Type of Opportunity: Regular Full-Time FLSA Classification: NON-EXEMPT Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Shift: Days Facilitates the customer registration and discharge (check out) process. Ensures the collection of patient demographics and insurance information. Collects identified patient financial obligation, arrange method of payment, or resolves account according to standard protocols. Verify eligibility of benefits. Maintains and fosters effective public relations with patients, physicians and the public by listening, responding, and documenting customer phone and walk-in inquiries and issues. Sets up scheduling template, and schedules patient appointments according to guidelines and works with staff technologists as defined. Participates in the coding process initiated by clinical staff and completes the data entry function. Identifies appropriate ICD-9, CPT4, and HCPCS codes for services, procedures and supplies. Ensures coding is appropriate to each payer's requirements and guidelines. Obtain referrals and authorizations by researching contract guidelines and contacting insurance companies and patients. Ensures the accurate and timely compilation and maintenance of medical record documentation. Acts as liaison with business office to successfully resolve billing issues and patient account balances. Coordinates care activities. Coordinates appointments in collaboration with providers and clinical support staff. Provides documentation of scheduled appointments, procedural instructions and location directions. Monitors the daily patient schedule, places reminder calls and identifies 'no shows' for rescheduling. Listen, analyze, answer and resolve customer phone, walk in and appointment care inquiries or complaints. Assists physicians as needed. Performs other functions as required. Skills / Requirements
High school plus specialized short term training in clerical and financial functions. One to three years' experience in clerical field, preferably to include insurance, hospital, or health care related industry.
