Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Mexico invites applications for two open rank faculty positions. Both are probationary appointments leading to a tenure decision.
Candidates will be expected to maintain a strong research program, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide service to the Statistics Program and the Department.
The Department has 6 faculty members in statistics, offers B.S, M.S., and PhD degrees in Statistics, and administers the Statistics Clinic. The university is in close proximity to Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Many faculty members have ties with these and other institutions. Skills / Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, or closely related discipline by 8/10/12. All areas of statistics will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates currently hold the rank of associate professor; have demonstrated or potential publication record in recognized premier journals; are committed to establishing, a strong research program with an emerging national/international reputation; have interest in research interactions with the Statistics faculty; are committed to excellence in statistics and probability education at the undergraduate through graduate level and desire to participate in an environment comprising significant cultural diversity; and have potential service to the Statistics Program and Department.
