General Description:
Eastern New Mexico University has a growing enrollment of over 6,000 students and is located in Portales, NM.  ENMU is the third largest university in the state and is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference.  ENMU sponsors 14 NCAA sport programs with approximately 450 student-athletes, as well as men's and women's rodeo.

Position Summary
Under general direction, performs a variety of administrative, secretarial and program support activities for the Athletic Department.
 Requirements:
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide confidential secretarial and administrative support for the Athletic Department including maintenance of schedules/calendars, making travel arrangements, recruitment arrangements, screening and handling telephone communications, greeting and directing visitors and dealing with administrative issues and inquiries as appropriate.
  • Assist Director in the coordination and review of the operating activities of an auxiliary income-producing program. 
  • Serve as primary point of administrative contact for department by disseminating general information, preparing correspondence and reports and responding to inquiries from prospective recruits and parents. 
  • Arrange for meetings, special events and fund raising campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain membership list for Greyhound Club; maintain the payment and receiving of funds in support of athletic programs.  Help with the organization of the Greyhound Club socials and functions.
  • Gather, enter and/or update data to maintain departmental records and databases as appropriate; establish and maintain files and records for the office.
  • Assist with organizing the cashiers, gates, will call and pass lists for home events
  • Some evening and weekend work required
  • Supervise student employees.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED certification and three years of related administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of office management policies, methods and procedures; familiarity with the programs and subject areas dealt within the office.  Knowledge and understanding of various sporting events.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff and the public.
  • Skilled in the use of modern office equipment including computer hardware and software applications and ability to perform moderate to complex secretarial work rapidly and accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Understanding and ability to present the front office of ENMU intercollegiate athletics in a positive and friendly manner with strong customer service skills.
  • Understanding, ability and sound judgement skills in order to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity with appropriate matters.

 Working Conditions:

  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
