Your Role and Responsibilities
Our center:
The Client Innovation Center is the newest and largest IBM center in Sofia, Bulgaria. It is a hub of global importance for the company, operating in a 24x7 environment for support activities and hosting a wide range of auxiliary services and professionals. 5 years into operation, the Center now provides end-to-end IT services covering some of the biggest world markets –US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.


The role:
The Data Scientist will be part of the Global Information Analytics (IA) team in the center. IA is focused on supporting the TSS strategy through new internal and external offerings in business intelligence, automation and cognitive services. The Data scientist will serve as a consultant and developer in the creation of these new products and services in the analytics space.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Establishing and defining minimal technical requirements for a proof of concept
  • Prototyping MVPs for analytics products
  • Defining ramp-up infrastructure needs to support a smooth expansion of data-driven services
  • Collaborating with IBM Research, CIO, Chief Data Office and other parts of the organization for the successful manifestation of business requirements into a stable product
  • Consultancy engagements with internal and external clients based on newly supplied datasets (structured & unstructured data include)
  • Freedom to choose the foundational technologies utilized for the development of a prototype
  • Actively communicating progress and roadblocks to the responsible IA leader
  • Showcasing TSS analytics capabilities to clients, and ongoing communication around project progression
Additional information
Working Hours: local with flexibility to take calls according to US working hours or the working hours of respective country of deployment

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
 
  • Ability to internalize technical knowledge quickly and apply it in practice to solve real problems
  • Strong planning skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Taking ownership where required and delivering on commitments
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar position, working with data to solve problems
  • Solid grasp of the following technologies: SQL & DB2, Python, dynamic visualizations, Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Awareness of agile practices
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong command of spoken and written English (C2 level)
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Experience with Java considered an advantage
  • Experience with Kubernetes and CloudFoundry considered an advantage
