Job Description

As a member of a spacecraft operations team, a software/ computer/ electrical systems engineer is needed to participate in the development, test and operation of on-orbit systems. This position will collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team to analyze customer needs, develop a detailed understanding of system capability and implement and test software updates to fix problems and enhance the system.
This position will be involved in the entire system lifecycle and will interact frequently with other engineering technical experts. Systems Software Analysts will participate in software requirements analysis and specification, test planning from unit to system level, planning and performing software qualification tests, writing and testing operations procedures and monitoring/debugging on-orbit software performance as part of a team developing software for both existing and in-development spacecraft programs. Familiarity with common software development tools for configuration management, problem tracking and continuous integration is expected.

 

This position can be filled at either the Systems Software Analyst level or the Principal Systems Software Analyst, depending on years of experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Systems Software Analyst: 


Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software, or related field.

 

At least two years of Software Engineering experience

Expertise in C/C programming

Experience with the VxWorks realtime operating system.

Self-motivated to learn and will be expected to travel to other Northrop Grumman sites on occasion for initial orientation and training.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Software Analyst:

Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software, or related field.

At least five years of Software Engineering experience

Expertise in C/C programming

Experience with the VxWorks realtime operating system.

Self-motivated to learn and will be expected to travel to other Northrop Grumman sites on occasion for initial orientation and training

Preferred Qualifications: 


Knowledge of engineering process best practices and software lifecycle activities in an avionics integration and test environment.
