  • Overview

    Assist in providing client services including resources and education to perpetrators of domestic violence; and, prevention education events and activities to schools, groups and the community.


    • Develops and implements culturally appropriate curriculum for the batterer’s education class; organizes, facilitates and conducts batterer’s education classes; monitors court-ordered clients to confirm whether they are in compliance and progressing with the education received.
    • Communicates and coordinates efforts with Tribal Court in regard to tracking and sentencing of offenders and offenders’ mandatory counseling program; communicates with tribal probation officer to help batterers link to support services and ensure that batterers complete the terms of the court-ordered batterer’s education class; attends Tribal Court Hearings for clients.
    • Maintains accurate records of training sessions held, number of cases, case records, persons involved and evaluations for outcome measures; maintains client files by placing all documents in individual files; collects, composes and submits statistical data and reports as required by program manager.
    • Provides appropriate referrals to available community organizations and tribal programs; identifies and secures appropriate services such as medical care, therapy, transportation, and individualized resources; responds to crisis telephone calls and provides appropriate intervention for clients.
    • Assists with organizing, facilitating and providing prevention awareness events, conferences and activities for the schools and the community throughout the year; develops and presents age appropriate presentations for the community.
    • Assists with organizing, facilitating and providing training for tribal leadership and Community Intervention Response Team (CIRT) members.
    • Assists in organizing and coordinating with various programs/schools for related events for the community; collaborates with Pueblo of Jemez programs/staff on awareness and prevention events, conferences and activities; networks with outside resources on awareness and prevention issues, activities, and events.
    • Assists with organizing and providing prevention awareness activities for the community throughout the year; assists, organizes and provides educational activities/events for October’s Violence Prevention Month.

    • Contributes to the overall quality of the unit’s service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures.
    • Represents the Pueblo with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.


    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    Education and Experience: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED); AND two (2) years of experience in providing counseling, social work and/or rehabilitation services/programs.

    Required Certificates, Licenses, And Registrations:

    • Valid New Mexico Driver’s License.

    • CPR & First Aid certification within six (6) months of date of employment.
