UNM’s Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) is a vibrant, committed group of professionals who support the built environment at the University of New Mexico. PDC seeks a dynamic and results-oriented professional with a strong financial management background to become a valuable member of our team as our Financial Officer. This position is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive multi-million dollar capital budget along with our operating budget sustained by a blended funding model. The ideal candidate will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting revenue projections, and our overall financial planning initiatives. This position is responsible for facilitating communication and fiscal policy within PDC.

Reporting to the Director, the Financial Officer is a key member of PDC’s leadership team and provides strategic direction in the planning, development, management, control, and reporting of the integrated financial operations and activities of a major, multi-faceted operating entity impacting all or most campuses of the University. This position coordinates the development, preparation, and submission of all capital, revenue, and expense budgets and all financial reports for our organization, working closely with staff both within the business unit and broadly in client groups and budget contacts throughout the University.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or in a related field including at least 15 credit hours of Accounting; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA, MBA, or MA/MS in accounting or finance.
  • Demonstrated experience in compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting complex, customizable financial reports, statements and revenue projections to various audiences utilizing diverse management information systems.
  • Proven ability to provide guidance to leadership on financial business matters and/or processes.
  • Strong collaborative teaming skills.
  • Extensive experience with Banner or similar integrated ERP system.
  • Skill in evaluating financial operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Experience in construction industry accounting to include contracts, change orders, and payments.
  • Working knowledge of government capital outlay processes.
  • Proven skills in communicating with various levels of management and state agencies.
  • Supervisory experience to include strong leadership and motivational skills.
