Position Summary

The Business and Industrial Technologies Department at University of New Mexico - Valencia Campus seeks to hire a Temporary Part-Time Faculty member to teach in the Architecture Drafting Technology program beginning the Fall 2019 semester. The program has a 62-credit hour Associate of Applied Science degree, as well as a 31-credit hour certificate. Courses offered include, but are not limited to: Design Fundamentals, Introduction to Architectural Graphics, Introduction to Architecture, Introduction to Computer-Aided Drafting, Computer Modeling for 3D Printing, Architectural Drafting, Introduction to 3D Printing.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, projects, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with UNM - Valencia Campus.
  • Maintains safe, quality classrooms, laboratories and equipment.
  • Assist in the identification of facility and equipment needs in the classroom.
  • Participate in training and professional development as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit students per semester.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Architecture or a related discipline
  • Expert knowledge of Autodesk software including but not limited to: Fusion 360, Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Meshmixer, Simplify3D, Tinkercad, Netfabb.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Certification in Autodesk softwre(s).
  • Industry experience in the field of 3D printing and 3D printer maintenance.
  • Industry experience in the field(s) of Architecture/Architectural Drafting.
  • One year of teaching experience in the filed of Architecture/Architectural Drafting, both online and face-to-face courses, at the community college level.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
